Beverage Program Management Terminology

This article outlines common terminology for the BPM product.

TERM

DEFINITION

9L Equivalent

9L Equivalent is a standard unit of measure which is equal to 9 liters, or 12 750ml bottles.

To calculate: 

9L Equivalent = Size (in Liters) * Units / 9

Order

One line item of one invoice is one order of that product, regardless of the quantity of the product on the invoice line item.

Compliant Orders

The percentage of product orders vs total orders.

Total 9L Equivalent

The total volume of all your orders, both On and Off program.

Compliant 9L Equivalent

The percentage of On Program 9L Equivalent vs total 9L Equivalent. 

Purchasing Programs

Used in reporting hierarchy to aggregate volume beyond product level. Programs are used to group similar locations. Certain reports will roll up to the program level. Other reports will allow sorting by program level. Think of a 5-star hotel with full bars and room service compared to a hotel that does not have a full bar or room service. Maybe one program is called Luxury and other program is called Classic.

On Program

On-Program refers to products listed on the approved Program products list, and orders of products from the approved Program product list.

Off Program

Off-Program refers to any product which is NOT listed on the approved Program products list, and orders of products which are NOT listed on the approved Program product list.

Category

A Category is an optional (but suggested) label for a product. Clients can choose their categories. Typically, clients use Beer, Wine, Spirits, Non-alcoholic, and RTD.

Region

Regions are an optional label for a location. Like Programs, Regions are used in reporting hierarchy. Regions are used to aggregate corresponding labels for roll up reporting. But it does not need to be a geographic label. It can also be an internal logical grouping. 

Region examples could be geographical such as West, Central, East, etc.

Can also be an internal logical grouping, such as Mary’s Team, Jose’s Team, etc.
